Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt From California's Bruery Terreux, here we have a sour ale inspired by a Chinese salty, dried plum snack called li hing mui, which is pickled with licorice and salt. So, naturally, The Travelling Plum was brewed with dried plums and salt, soured with the brewery's own house cultures, and spiced with Chinese five-spice. Bruery Terreux teamed up with Jester King to brew up Bouffon, which was the first beer to ferment in one of Bruery Terreux's new foeders! Starting the show with a showstopper, it seems. Another juicy beer from Bruery Terreux's Frucht series! This is a sour Berliner Weisse-style wheat beer, aged in oak foeders with passion fruit. The tart tropical fruit is the star of this show, though there's good helping of malt, funk, and other sweeter fruits in this refreshing brew.
